Research
Dr. Zelen's scientific interests include the creation of probability models of disease, new statistical methods for the planning and analysis of clinical trials, length biased sampling and the development of the theory for the early detection of disease. Current research includes models for the early prediction of mortality for early detection clinical trials , optimal scheduling of early detection screening programs for public health programs, estimating the future mortality of breast cancer in the U.S., relationships between randomization and the Poisson distribution with reference to low frequency outcomes.
