Assistant/Associate Professor of Public Health Nutrition
The Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) seeks candidates for the position of assistant or associate professor of public health nutrition. This is a tenure-ladder position, with the academic rank to be determined in accordance with the successful candidate's experience and productivity. The successful candidate will play a central role in the department's program of teaching and research.The general emphasis in research will be on the development of translational knowledge about nutrition, physical activity, and health, for application at the individual, interpersonal, organizational, or community level. The search committee welcomes applications from individuals with a broad range of relevant scholarship, one example of which is the development and evaluation of effective programs, policies, and/or communication strategies to control obesity and other nutrition-related conditions, particularly in underserved populations. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program and to participate in collaborative research activities within the department. The successful candidate will also be responsible for teaching and for student supervision, which will encompass the direction of doctoral students in dissertation research.
The successful applicant will hold a doctoral degree in nutrition or in another relevant area of public health, or will have a medical degree and formal training in public health. Candidates with research experience in social or behavioral sciences, environmental health, or policy, as these fields relate to public health nutrition, are encouraged to apply.
