Abbott International
Abbott International is a leading U.S. based pharmaceutical company that researches develops, manufactures and markets products and services that span the continuum of care including, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care. Abbott International has supported the Institute’s efforts for many years. For example, Abbott provided support for the International Symposium on HIV, Leukemia, and Opportunistic Cancers held in Marrakech, Morocco in May 1999 and the distribution of AIDS in Africa, second edition, in 2002. Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Group
The Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Group, the largest HIV clinical trials organization in the world, plays a major role in setting standards of care for HIV infection and opportunistic diseases related to HIV/AIDS in the United States and the developed world. The AACTG has been pivotal in providing the data necessary for the approval of therapeutic agents, as well as the treatment and prevention strategies, for many opportunistic infections and malignancies. Currently, are under review for the Botswana–Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership clinic and laboratory to become an International Clinical Trials Unit with the Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Group. African Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Partnerships
In 2000, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Merck & Co., Inc. and the Republic of Botswana announced the establishment of the African Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Partnerships (ACHAP), an initiative to improve the overall state of HIV/AIDS care and treatment in Botswana. In collaboration with the Government of Botswana, and with an intensive commitment of resources, ACHAP endeavors to advance significantly HIV/AIDS prevention, healthcare access, patient management and treatment of HIV in Botswana. This collaborative program is designed to demonstrate the benefits of a comprehensive approach to improving the care of people living with HIV in a resource-constrained country. ACHAP representatives provide guidance in linking together countrywide AIDS efforts and in planning future activities and collaborations. African Aids Initiative International
The African Aids Initiative International(AAIII) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting HIV/AIDS awareness in Africa by scaling up nation-wide prevention efforts and improving the lives of persons infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS.

AAII is a civic organization devoted to help stem the Aids epidemic by translating its motto "Fighting For Life" into concrete HIV/AIDS program. AAIII consists of Volunteer Staff Members, Honorary Advisors, Board of Directors & six Executive Board members. African Aids Initiative International works to provide HIV/AIDS education, voluntary HIV testing & counseling(VCT), care & Support for HIV infected persons, rehabilitation programme through Orphans Rehab, database repository & network facilitation system, international/national forums for HIV/AIDS conferences, and networking schemes to build the links for collaborative researches. Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative
With support from Bristol-Myers Squibb, the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative is coordinating a nurse education and physician exchange program between Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Swaziland, and the United States. Baylor is also collaborating with the Government of Botswana to build a pediatric clinical center of excellence, with emphasis on HIV and AIDS pediatric care. In addition, Baylor’s "HIV Nursing Curriculum" for sub-Saharan Africa serves important reference material for the Institute’s KITSO AIDS Training Program. Baylor faculty and staff from Botswana and the United States also serve as program faculty and mentors for the KITSO, using their expertise to help develop pediatric-related research training. Blair Research Institute
The Blair Research Institute is Zimbabwe’s national center for research, training and service in the fields of disease control, biomedicine and health. The Institute comprises the Blair Research Laboratory, Health Research Unit in Harare and the De Beers Research Laboratory in Chiredzi. The Institute conducts research into safe water and sanitation provision, endemic communicable diseases such as malaria, schistosomiasis, diarrhea and related diseases, as well as AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. Black Entertainment Television (BET), Inc., a subsidiary of Viacom, Inc., is the leading African American multi-media entertainment company. BET Inc. provided support for Africa Now! The Boston Foundation
The Boston Foundation is one of the largest community foundations in the United States and is made up of over 650 separate funds, which have been established by hundreds of donors either for the general benefit of the community or for special purposes. The foundation has provided support for the Institute’s research in Botswana, including training and infrastructure, vaccine development and mother-to-infant prevention. Bristol-Myers Squibb
Bristol-Myers Squibb is a pharmaceutical and related health care products company whose mission is to extend and enhance human life. The company has supported a wide spectrum of HIV and AIDS initiatives at HAI, including the International Symposium on HIV, Leukemia and Opportunistic Cancers held in Marrakech, Morocco in May 1999 and Giving Voice to a Silent Epidemic: HIV/AIDS Care and Prevention for Women held in Boston in October 1999.

Also, in 1999 Bristol-Myers Squibb founded Secure the Future, an initiative which partners with sub-Saharan African countries and HIV and AIDS organizations to fund research, training and community outreach in southern Africa. In February 2000, the first Botswana-Harvard HIV Reference Laboratory opened with a grant from Secure the Future and the Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, along with funds from the Government of Botswana and from Harvard University.

In addition, Bristol-Myers Squibb co-sponsored Africa Now! A Leadership Summit to Define African Priorities for AIDS held in Boston, Massachusetts in November 2000. Also in November 2000, Secure the Future co-sponsored Artworks for AIDS, an art auction to raise funds for HIV and AIDS programs in southern Africa, in conjunction with HAI. Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) is the nation's leading industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant making organization. The organization provided support for the Madison Project: Future Directions of AIDS Research, held in Madison, Wisconsin in July 1993. With BC/EFA's support, this collaborative effort aimed to create a more efficient national AIDS research agenda. For more information, visit http://www.bcefa.org.

Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Le Dantec
The Harvard AIDS Institute collaborates with the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Le Dantec in Dakar, Senegal through the Enhancing Care Initiative. Faculty members from the Department of Microbiology, Department of Biology, and Department of Medicine work together with other local AIDS care experts on the Initiative’s multi-disciplinary AIDS care team in Senegal. Chiang Mai University
The Harvard AIDS Institute collaborates with Chiang Mai University in Chiang Mai, Thailand through the Enhancing Care Initiative. Faculty members from the school of Nursing work together with other local AIDS care experts on the Initiative’s multi-disciplinary AIDS care team in Thailand. The Design Industries Foundation for AIDS
The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS is the oldest and one of the largest supporters of HIV and AIDS service and education programs in the United States. The Foundation is comprised of volunteers from all design fields who support projects to reduce the effects of HIV and AIDS. The foundation supported Madison Project: Future Directions of AIDS Research held in Madison, Wisconsin in 1993. For more information, visit http://www.diffa.org.

The Elton John Foundation
The Elton John AIDS Foundation is an international non-profit organization funding prevention education programs and direct patient-care services worldwide. The charity was established in 1992 to provide funding for educational programs targeted at HIV and AIDS prevention and/or the elimination of prejudice and discrimination against HIV and AIDS-affected individuals, and for programs that provide services to people living with or at risk for HIV and AIDS. The foundation has provided support for the Institute’s research in Botswana, including training and infrastructure, vaccine development and mother-to-infant prevention.
