Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies

The Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies (HCPDS) is at the cusp of the rapidly evolving field of population health. Capitalizing on the profundity of expertise across the University, the HCPDS brings together faculty, students, and researchers from a wide array of disciplines including epidemiology, economics, demography, sociology, statistics, and population genetics.

The Work of our Center:

  • Supports an analytic and research platform that enables practitioners to work and report on large scale population based studies with rich depth and demographic data.
  • Connects numerous research centers across campus and around the world, thus creating a "community" that fosters collaboration and integration of intellectual capitol.
  • Trains students at all levels to become leaders in population health by close collaboration and by way of the latest technologies in the selection, design, development, management, and dissemination of data.

Our Research Focal Areas are:

1. Social and Environmental Determinants of Population Health
2. Migration and Immigration: A New Experience
3. Causes and Consequences of Health Transitions: Aging Societies
4. Health Consequences of Work Place Policies and Work Design, Especially as They Pertain to Women
