Established in 2002, the Harvard School of Public Health Center for Public Health Preparedness (HSPH-CPHP) is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), under a cooperative agreement with the Association of Schools of Public Health. HSPH-CPHP is part of a national network of Academic Centers for Public Health Preparedness collectively charged with advancing state and local preparedness and response to public health threats. Within this network, HSPH-CPHP has specific responsibility for working with the public health workforce in Massachusetts and Maine. Much of our work in these states is done in collaboration with our partner organizations.
The work of the HSPH-CPHP is supported by over twenty faculty and staff, all committed to the purpose of advancing public health preparedness. Housed within the Division of Public Health Practice at Harvard School of Public Health, HSPH-CPHP serves as an integrating and convening body, uniting public health academics and professionals for productive, practice-based discussions of emerging issues in preparedness. Harvard School of Public Health is situated in the heart of Boston 's Longwood Medical Area and HSPH-CPHP benefits from the vast and vibrant scientific culture of this community.
