CHEMPACK
Program overview
Welcome to the Massachusetts CHEMPACK Training Program. The CHEMPACK program is a part of the CDC's Strategic National Stockpile program and is designed to pre-position antidotes to expedite the treatment of individuals exposed to chemical nerve agents. These modules will provide training for all first responder, public health, public safety, and health professionals who may be involved in responding to a nerve agent incident. Designed by the Harvard School of Public Health Center for Public Health Preparedness (HSPH-CPHP) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, this training program was conducted as part of the CDC Centers for Public Health Preparedness grant.
Note: Each of the CHEMPACK modules are executable files that will download to your computer (they are not links to a web application).
Module 1 (http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/chempack/Chempack-Module1.exe)
Following this course, first responders, first receivers, and additional hospital personnel will be able to describe the CHEMPACK program, determine which situations require CHEMPACK assets, list the agencies involved in CHEMPACK, and explain the role each agency plays in CHEMPACK.
To register course completion and receive continuing education credit (physician CME, nurse CE/CEU, Pharmacist CME, and EMT CEU credits offered), you must complete the survey in SurveyMonkey that is included at the end of the course. Course length is approximately ½ hour.
Module 2 (http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/chempack/Chempack-Module2.exe)
Following this course, first responders, first receivers, and additional hospital personnel will be able to explain what responders should do when they recognize a potential nerve agent incident, determine when to request deployment of CHEMPACK assets, describe notification procedures observed during the response, list steps taken to deploy CHEMPACK assets, and explain required after-action documentation.
To register course completion and receive continuing education credit (physician CME, nurse CE/CEU, Pharmacist CME, and EMT CEU credits offered), you must complete the survey in SurveyMonkey that is included at the end of the course. Course length is approximately 1 hour.
Module 3 (http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/chempack/Chempack-Module3.exe)
Following this course, hospital personnel and pharmacists will be able to identify a CHEMPACK host agency's role and responsibilities, describe how CHEMPACK assets are maintained, and summarize when and how CHEMPACK assets should be mobilized.
To register course completion and receive continuing education credit (physician CME, nurse CE/CEU, Pharmacist CME, and EMT CEU credits offered), you must complete the survey in SurveyMonkey that is included at the end of the course. Course length is approximately 1 hour.
All three modules may also be downloaded in one zipped file, which may be easier to access for some computers or virus software programs.
