Doctoral Student, Health Systems Track
Yanfang has a background in economics (B.A.) and management (M.A.). With interdisciplinary training in Global Health and Population, Yanfang’s research investigates issues in health system reforms from a political economy perspective. As a research assistant in PHCF, Yanfang has gained firsthand knowledge of the importance of health systems – especially for health care reform in China. Her understanding of China’s health care system has been enhanced through work with Professors Hsiao and Yip in the ongoing social experiment in Ningxia, China. Yanfang’s other research interests include measures of health status as well as health inequality in developing countries, with a particular interest in how non-tax revenues such as oil rents and foreign aid affect these outcomes.
