Application and Leasing Overview

Application Timeline

Applications for Summer 2024 and the 2024-2025 academic year open on March 18 at 12:00 PM ET and close on April 22. Leases will be offered via lottery to eligible students that submit an application during the application window. The time of submitting an application during the application window does not impact the chances of being offered a lease.

Late applications will be accepted, but may impact a student’s chance of being offered a lease.

New this year, we are piloting a self-selection lottery for academic year leases. After the application window closes on April 22, eligible applicants will be assigned a date and time at which they can enter the Shattuck portal and select from available apartments. We anticipate there will be more applicants than we have available apartments.

Application Waitlist

Demand for units generally exceeds the inventory of available units. Not every student that applies is guaranteed to be offered a lease. Students not selected by lottery will be placed on a waitlist and may be offered a lease on a space-available basis.

There is no specific timeline for waitlist notifications. Typically, a student on the waitlist may be offered a lease if another student declines a lease offer, withdraws from the School, or withdraws from living at Shattuck. Periodic updates will be sent to waitlisted applicants.

Accepting and Returning a Lease

There is a strict five-business day return deadline for all lease offers and initial payments. Applicants are encouraged to consider administrative and financial responsibilities and be prepared to quickly submit lease documents and the initial payment if offered a lease.

Lease offers that are not returned with complete documents and initial payment within the five-day deadline will be considered incomplete, and the lease offers will be considered no longer valid.

Payment Information

An initial payment equal to one month’s rent must be included along with leasing documents for a lease to be considered complete. Payment must be made in USD and can be made by certified check (bank check), ACH transfer (electronic check), or credit card.

After the initial payment, subsequent rent charges are applied to a student’s University Student Financial Services account at the beginning of each month. Students should monitor their accounts closely to ensure timely payments.

Please visit University Student Financial Services for more information on student accounts including policies, dates and deadlines, and acceptable forms of payment.
