The Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM) of the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) is concerned with improving health care delivery and mitigating public health risks. The problem-solving orientation of HPM is exemplified by its strong ties to leading health practitio­ners in hospitals, HMOs, community health centers, health advocacy groups, corporate medical departments, health and environmental consulting firms, state and local health departments, federal regulatory bodies, and international agencies.

Practical problem-solving skills are emphasized by HPM's interdisciplinary faculty, which includes management specialists, program evaluators, decision analysts, risk assessors, accountants, physicians, lawyers, policy analysts, economists, and political scientists.
