Peace Institute Loses State
Funding
The Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, one of HYVPC's Community
Partners and a leader in violence prevention efforts in Boston, has lost a
substantial amount of funding due to state budget cuts. They may be forced to
close within a few months unless their fundraising activities are very
successful. So far there has been a great outpouring of community support. If
you would like to make a donation, please visit their website.

Deborah Prothrow-Stith leaving
HSPH
HYVPC is sad to announce the departure of Deborah
Prothrow-Stith September 5th. She has made tremendous contributions to HYVPC as
its Director of Programs, and we wish her all the best as she moves on to new
endeavors.
Message from Deborah Prothrow-Stith:
As of
September 15th I will join the Spencer
Stuart executive search firm and transition to adjunct faculty here at
HSPH. Founded in 1956, Spencer Stuart is one of the world's leading privately
held firms with 52 offices in 27 countries (including South Africa).
This midlife decision to reinvent my career is coupled with mixed
emotions. I am excited to learn new things, experience the business side of
health care, and have an impact on health and public health leadership. On the
other hand, I will miss my HSPH family tremendously.

Robert
Sege has developed a new training video titled, "Youth Violence Prevention
Training Module". These video cases are based on stories told by Boston-area
teens (portrayed in the video by teen actors) who have received Emergency
Department treatment for violence-related injuries. The video was produced by
Vida Communications, a minority owned small business with extensive experience
in health education. Click here to view the
video (you will need to download RealPlayer to view this).
