International Health Systems Program (IHSP)
Seminar Series on Health Care Systems

This Seminar Series is designed to invite experts on international health issues to present their recent innovative research on topics in international health. The informal setting is designed for lively exchange between researchers, faculty, and students. Most presentations will be on works in progress. Presenters include Harvard faculty and staff members, Ph.D. candidates and invited guests from other universities, donor agencies, and consulting firms. This Thursday lunch-time series had more than 25 speakers in its first year, on topics such as:

  • models for analyzing financing options for governments
  • geography and demography in Africa's growth crisis
  • mad cow disease in Britain
  • politics of health reform in Chile
  • the convergence of health systems
  • equity of health reform initiatives in China and Ecuador,
  • mental health in developing countries
  • drug prescribing practices
  • costs of health services in Bolivia and Uganda, and Zimbabwe and Mexico
