Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard

On August 26, 2009, Apple released its latest operating system MAC OS X Snow Leopard.  While we in HSPH IT are excited about the new OS, we are not currently supporting the release at HSPH and installations of the new OS could cause issues interacting with HSPH systems.

Initial tests by our Helpdesk staff proved problematic.  Testing included the Novell client and Groupwise client.  Additionally, disk encryption using PGP is not currently fully supported in Snow Leopard.

Please avoid upgrading to Snow Leopard at this time.
Until software vendors have released versions of their application that are fully compatiable with Snow Leopard, HSPH IT will be unable to fully support users running Snow Leopard.

FAS has made a similar announcement regarding Snow Leopard.

We, at HSPH made a similar announcement regarding Microsoft Vista, when it was released.
