She spent five years at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as a senior laboratory technician before turning her attention to information technology, music, and media services.  She spent two years at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, also at Johns Hopkins, as the computing center manager.

More recently, Julie lived and worked on the west coast as a computer/audio-visual technician for the Bay Area Video coalition (http://www.bavc.org) in San Francisco.

BAVC is a “nonprofit media arts center that was founded in 1976 by a coalition of media makers and activists who wanted to find alternative, civic-minded applications for a new technology – PortaPak video. Their continuing mission is to inspire social change by enabling the sharing of diverse stories through art, education and technology.”

In addition to her work at BAVC, Julie freelanced for Good Film Works (http://www.goodfilmworks.com) and the Women’s Audio Mission (http://www.womensaudiomission.org).  At Good Film Works, she worked on sound and video editing for corporate and nonprofit videos.  At Women’s Audio Mission, she helped train other women and youth in the use of audio technology.

Julie has earned certificates in web design from Maryland Institute of Art and in sound recording from City University of San Francisco.

Please join us in welcoming Julie to our technical staff and to the HSPH community!
