Computer Training Update

The Department of Information Technology would like to thank the community for their support of the IT computer training program.

In the fall, we offered 3 levels of MS Excel 2010, MS Access 2010, MS Visio 2010, and MS Project 2010.  We also had an introductory technical session for MS Outlook 2010, preparing IT professionals for our email migration.  In total, nearly 100 staff members took part in training, and we filled 88% of the available seats.

We are currently working on a spring training schedule.  We will offer a significant amount of half day Microsoft Outlook 2010 quick start classes. They will be scheduled around departmental migrations to the new email platform.  As a result of community suggestions we also plan on offering Level 4 of Microsoft Excel, which includes training in Visual Basic to create custom macros.

If you have suggestions for courses please contact Deane Eastwood, Assistant IT Director at 432-3613, by January 20, 2011.

We also encourage the community to explore our new work stations in the Instructional Computing Facility.  These work stations provide full access to thousands of self-paced training videos on a variety of computer topics from Microsoft titles to social media websites such as LinkedIN, Twitter, Facebook, and many of Google’s offerings.
