The HSPH Department of Information Technology welcomes new hire Jacob Yerdon. Jake will work as a senior web and application developer for the HSPH web team. Jake replaces Kevin Wnek who left IT for Thomson Reuters and the position of senior web and streaming developer.
Jake joins us from Lockheed Martin where he worked for four years in two different roles; first as a systems integration analyst and more recently as a data warehouse analyst. Prior to his work at Lockheed, he was a computer specialist for Madison-Oneida Regional Information Center where he helped coordinate the mass implementation of a school management software used by over 30 New York public schools in central/upstate New York.
Jake has excellent experience with and knowledge of open source technologies/languages including PHP, WordPress, AJAX and MySQL. He has become an immediate asset in working on the HSPH website rebranding and migration to WordPress, a project that is scheduled for launch in November.
Jake has both a bachelor of science and master of science degree from SUNY Institute of Technology.
In his new role as senior web and application developer, Jake will contribute to many important processes and projects, including:
- HSPH website redesign
- MyHSPH portal development
- Maintenance and enhancement of the HSPH web team’s portfolio of web applications
- Oversight of our Google technologies (search, analytics)
- Training end users on use of web technology
Please join us in welcoming Jake to our technical staff and to the HSPH community!
Away from work, Jake enjoys candy-making and spent several years making gourmet chocolate before trying his hand in the Italian wine industry.
