Winter Break Support

Dear HSPH Community,

The Department of Information Technology will be providing limited phone support hours to assist the community with computer issues during the winter break.

Phone support hours are as follows:

Monday, December 24th: closed
Tuesday, December 25th: closed
Wednesday, December 26th:  10 am to 1 pm
Thursday, December 27th: 10 am to 1 pm
Friday, December 28th:  10 am to 1 pm
Monday, December 31st: 10 am to 1 pm
Tuesday, January 1st: closed

Walk-in service will not be available from December 24th through January 1st.  The Helpdesk will reopen for walk-in service on Wednesday, January 2nd at 8:00 am.

Please note that all core systems (e.g., email, network, web servers, server rooms) are monitored throughout the break by the IT staff.  These systems are monitored 24/7/365.

We wish everyone a happy and safe holiday break and look forward to working with you in 2013.

SIS Team Joins the Department of Information Technology

We are pleased to announce that the Student Information System (SIS) team has joined the Department of Information Technology.  The SIS team was formerly located at Smith Street under the direction of the Student Services.

The Department of Information Technology has managed the SIS server and network infrastructure since launching the system in 2010.  Our aim with this transition is to coordinate programming, database, and customer-service activities with other similar operations within IT.  IT management will continue to work closely with the functional groups (Registrar, Admissions, Financial Aid, Office for Students, and Career Services) to plan upgrades and enhancements to the SIS and MyHSPH.

SIS team members are:

The SIS team may be reached by coming to the HSPH Helpdesk.  Their new office space is in the Kresge Building in the former computer laboratory, Kresge LL10, which was renovated in the late fall.

Maintenance Window on Thursday Evening, December 11

UPDATE: All updates were successful and all systems are fully functional.

To all HSPH users,

This Thursday night, December 11th, we will be performing our normal system maintenance to all servers.

The maintenance window will last from 7PM to 1AM.

The following services will have one or two small outages:

(You can continue to work, but may have brief pauses while services restart)

The following services will be unaffected during the maintenance window:

  • HPCC system
  • HUIT Icemail (Outlook) system
  • iSites

IMPORTANT – Some areas of the HSPH network will be reconfigured between 7PM and 8PM to enhance security.

There will be a 5 to 10 minute network outage when your PC will not be able to communicate.

If you experience any issues after 8:00PM, please reboot your PC.
