HSPH Website Issue Resolved

At 12:25 pm, the HSPH main website began throwing errors messages and was taken off-line.  An interim web page containing links to key unaffected services (Outlook, GMAIL, myHSPH, iSites) was put online shortly after the outage began.

At 3:20 pm, all services were successfully restored.

While we are still researching issue thoroughly, it currently points to an issue with Rackspace’s cloud database service.  Rackspace is HSPH hosting vendor.

If you are a web publisher at HSPH and notice anything awry, please contact the HSPH web team at webteam@hsph.harvard.edu.

We apologize for the inconvenience that this outage caused.

Student GMAIL issue

UPDATE: All systems are fully operational.

Currently the Gmail system is experiencing issues that may affect some, but not all, of our mail.harvard.edu student accounts.  This is a Gmail-wide issue and not specific to HSPH or Harvard.

There may be a delay in the sending and/or receiving of email.

We apologize for this inconvenience.

Thank you,
HSPH Department of Information Technology

Outlook Email Issue

UPDATE: All systems are fully operational.

–UPDATE 9/18/2013-

Yesterday morning the University managed email system (ICEMAIL) experienced delivery problems between Harvard and the outside world.

HUIT has confirmed that messages coming in between 7:00 AM – 8:45 AM yesterday morning from outside Harvard bounced back to senders as undelivered.

During this same time period yesterday, any messages sent from Harvard to the outside world went into a queue, and were later delivered once the problem was resolved in Cambridge. Email within Harvard was not affected by this problem.

All mail delivery was back to normal by 11:00 AM.

–UPDATE AT 9:46AM–
Email access is functioning properly. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact the HSPH Help Desk.
If there are any other system issues, please watch this space for notification.
——————–

–UPDATE AT 9:25AM–
Email access is currently degraded; we will update this post once functionality is completely restored.
——————–

As of 7:10 am, the Outlook/Icemail system is not functioning properly for external incoming and outgoing mail.  Internal mail is fully operational.

Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) is actively working on the issue.
