Dr Joan Costa Font (Joan) is Harkness fellow in the Department of Health Policy and Management at Harvard University’s School of Public Health and tenured Associate Professor (‘Reader’ in the UK) of Political Economy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where he collaborates with the wellbeing program of the Center for Economic Performance (CEP) and LSE Health and Social Care. Joan has held teaching and/or research appointments at Oxford University, the University of Barcelona and the University of Munich where he is CESIfo network research fellow, and has acted as World Bank and European Commission Consultant in health policy-related projects. His research covers a broad range of topics on the political economy of health and social protection, including a specific expertise on aging and long-term care, health behavior and health care organization and insurance. He has earned a Ph.D. in economics, a Master degree MSc (Econ) in the filed of international health policy from LSE where he was Marie Curie Postdoctoral research fellow and, he holds three undergraduate degrees in economics, law and political science from the University of Barcelona.
