Mark A. Bloomberg, MD, MBA, FACPE

                                                            Biographical Sketch

       Mark Bloomberg is Senior Physician Executive of HealthNEXT, a company dedicated to the application of population health principles to large self-funded employers to create a pervasive culture of health within the firm and the creation of a healthy and productive workforce.  Mark is also President of The Bloomberg Healthcare Group, a consulting practice dedicated to the education of medical students, residents, practicing physicians and physician executives.  His expertise is in the improvement of health care quality and the application of information technology to health care settings, a subject he teaches at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.  Most of his time is now dedicated to promoting the role of Patient-Centered Medial Home techniques to medical practices to improve the delivery of health care. Mark was previously the Chief Medical Officer of Private Healthcare Systems, a national PPO, and before that, the Corporate Medical Director of Tufts Health Plans.  It was during that period of his career that he became an NCQA physician surveyor (1991), serving on NCQA’s Review Oversight Committee from 1995-2001.  Mark continues to conduct NCQA surveys, teaches new physician surveyors, and is now certified by NCQA as a Patient-Centered Medical Home Content Expert.

      Mark did his clinical training at Rutgers Medical School and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital of Boston, followed by 12 years of solo Internal Medicine practice.  Mark later received an MBA from Northeastern University, and is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Medical Management.  Mark is on the faculty of both the Tufts University School of Medicine and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American College of Physician Executives.
