MCH/CYF in the Community

The Concentration has initiated student support for targeted practica activities with our collaborators. This past year, these activities have included work with the following agencies:

Centers for Disease and Control (CDC)

Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch

MCH/CYF has had a longstanding collaboration with this branch in which students spend a week in an intensive didactic session on program evaluation and then accompany a CDC Officer to one or more states helping them with evaluating their programs. This year we began formal support of student travel and the supported students (enter Toks’ info here)

Division of Reproductive Health

This year we expanded the program above to include the Division of Reproductive Health. Two students developed an evaluation of the New Orleans program to reduce sudden and unexpected death in infancy.

Children’s Hospital Boston

Program for Patient Safety and Quality

Students worked with staff at the Program for Patient Safety and Quality (PPSQ) at the Childern’s Hospital Boston (CHB). The students worked with the staff there to gather information regarding health care services for children in the state of Massachusetts in the areas of availability, quality, and current measurement of quality of services.
