Non-Clinical Biostatistics Leaders Forum
The Non-Clinical Biostatistics Leaders Forum (NCBLF) is made up of managers of non-clinical biostatistics departments in the pharmaceutical industry. The purpose of the forum is to facilitate informal discussions of statistical issues in the "non-clinical research" areas. These areas include Pre-clinical, Drug Safety/Metabolomics, CM&C and Development Operations. The NCBLF formed because the participants recognized that Non-Clinical Biostatistics in the pharmaceutical industry lacked a clear position at professional meetings and their organizing associations (DIA, ASA, Biometrics). Non-clinical biostatistics managers and thought leaders have met biannually since 2003.
Topics are discussed at a high-level, focusing on the management of statistical issues, regulatory concerns, emerging technologies, resources and industry trends. A second but equally important purpose of the NCBLF is to provide a venue for technical presentations and career development. An important goal of the NCBLF is to encourage excellence in the science of statistics, to raise the level of awareness of the role of non-clinical biostatistics in the pharmaceutical industry and assist NCB leaders in managing important technical and regulatory challenges in a dynamic world and market place.
The biannual meetings are coordinated through a steering committee whose members are:
- Stan Altan (J&J)
- Don Bennett (Biogen)
- Jim Colaianne (J&J)
- Ferdous Gheyas (Schering-Plough)
- Wherly Hoffman (Elan)
- Keith Soper (Merck)
- Gary Sullivan (Lilly)
