Toxic chemicals used to build older Mass. schools

A Massachusetts elementary school closed earlier this month to remove caulk containing PCBs, or polychlorinated biphenyls, but the potentially harmful chemicals are likely present in hundreds of other public buildings in the state. PCBs were added to commercial-grade caulking between 1950 and 1977, then were banned due to links to cancer and other health problems. HSPH’s Robert Herrick is quoted in a FOX 25/MyFoxBoston.com article and appears in a video segment.
