Taking a harm reduction approach to gun control

David Hemenway, professor of health policy at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and director of the Harvard Injury Control Research Center, spoke to C-SPAN about how a harm reduction approach could be effective in addressing gun violence. In the October 10, 2017 interview, in which he also took listener calls, he said that multiple groups across society, from gun manufacturers to the faith community have roles to play.

“How can we figure out how to live with guns right now?” he asked. The first step is to recognize that it is a societal problem and bring people together, he said. “It’s about prevention rather than blame.”
