Doctors share their best cooking tips

Take a cooking class. Organize your ingredients. And learn techniques rather than recipes.

These are just a few of the cooking tips provided by a handful of doctors in a July 26, 2018 U.S. News & World Report article that featured David Eisenberg, adjunct associate professor of nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

One of Eisenberg’s recommendations: Cook tomato sauce at home because it’s cheaper and healthier than store-bought sauce. “If you look at any jar of tomato sauce on the shelf, it’s expensive relative to buying a can of tomatoes to which you add garlic, salt, pepper and some basil—and it’s also got tons more salt and sugar,” Eisenberg said. “It takes about 15 minutes to make a fantastic tomato sauce.”
