Population growth rate slows in India

India’s population growth rate has slowed substantially over the past decade, according to a new report from the United Nations Population Fund.

More Indian women are using contraceptives for birth control and are using modern methods of family planning, according to an April 23, 2019 article in ThePrint.

An improvement in living standards and levels of educational attainment are also contributing to the decline in the population growth rate, said S V Subramanian, professor of population health and geography at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
