New online trackers follow COVID-19 vaccine rollouts in U.S., India

New online trackers developed by Harvard’s Geographic Insights lab provide daily updates and geographic visualizations of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in the U.S. and in India. The trackers launched in April 2021.

These are the only known trackers of vaccine metrics by congressional districts in the U.S. and parliamentary constituencies in India.

Geographic Insights, led by S.V. Subramanian, professor of population health and geography at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, is an interdisciplinary research lab based at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies and the Harvard Center of Geographic Analysis at the Institute for Quantitative Social Science.

An interactive article in the May 15, 2021 New York Times used COVID-19 vaccination data from Geographic Insights to create a series of graphs showing pandemic trajectories, and quoted Subramanian.

The researchers also recently launched an NFHS Policy Tracker looking at critical health, nutrition, and population indicators across India.
