New tool helps businesses, schools, evaluate indoor ventilation

June 27, 2022—The Healthy Buildings Program at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health released a new online calculator to help people who are using carbon dioxide (CO2) monitors understand ventilation rates in indoor spaces and determine a maximum safe level. Users input information about a room, and the calculator returns the estimated CO2 concentration.

Released on June 27, 2022, the calculator builds off a tool released by Healthy Buildings researchers in the summer of 2020 to help schools better understand their ventilation systems and potentially reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other airborne viruses.
