UN Group to Combat Poverty Brings Together HSPH Dean Julio Frenk, Bill Gates, Ted Turner, and Others

Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) Dean Julio Frenk has joined a United Nations advocacy group to eradicate poverty. The group includes two Nobel laureates, businessmen and philanthropists Bill Gates and Ted Turner, and others. They have been tasked with galvanizing support for achieving the Millennium Development Goals by the target date of 2015. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon made the announcement on June 23, 2010, describing the group as “a real collection of superheroes in defeating poverty.”
