Children exposed to the pollutant polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in their first years of life mounted weakened responses to vaccines against the infectious diseases diphtheria and tetanus, suggesting that PCBs may damage the effectiveness of vaccinations. HSPH adjunct professor Philippe Grandjean was senior author of the paper, published online June 20, 2010, in Environmental Health Perspectives.
