Harvard Chan School faculty cited in multiple fields include: Frank Hu, molecular biology and genetics, agricultural sciences, clinical medicine, social sciences; Walter Willett, agricultural sciences, clinical medicine, social sciences; Dean David Hunter, molecular biology, genetics; JoAnn Manson, clinical medicine, social sciences; Rafael Irizarry, computer science, mathematics; and Peter Kraft, molecular biology, genetics. Other Harvard Chan faculty cited in social sciences include: Antonella Zanobetti, Ashish Jha, David Williams, Francesca Dominici, Ichiro Kawachi, James Robins, Joel Schwartz, Miguel Hernan, Nancy Krieger, SV Subramanian, and Tyler VanderWeele. Honored in clinical medicine included Majid Ezzati, Meir Stampfer, and Nancy Cook. Joseph Sodroski and Bruce Walker were cited in microbiology.
To assemble the list, Thomson Reuters identified those articles in science and social sciences journals that were most frequently cited between 2003 and 2013. Those that ranked in the top 1% of citations for their subject field and year of publication were considered in determining the most influential researchers.
