March 13, 2008: David Satcher, MD, PhD
Dr. David Satcher was the 16th Surgeon General of the United States. Dr. Satcher served simultaneously in the positions of Surgeon General and Assistant Secretary for Health from February 1998 through January 2001. He also held the posts of Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry from 1993 to 1998. Dr. Satcher wishes to be known as the Surgeon General who listened to the American people and who responded with effective programs. His mission has been to make public health work for all groups in this nation.
March 19, 2008: Rosabeth Kanter, PhD
Rosabeth Moss Kanter holds the Ernest L. Arbuckle Professorship at
Harvard Business School, where she specializes in strategy, innovation,
and leadership for change. Her strategic and practical insights have
guided leaders of large and small organizations worldwide for over 25
years, through teaching, writing, and direct consultation to major
corporations and governments. The former Editor of Harvard Business Review (1989-1992), Professor Kanter has been named to lists of the "50 Most Powerful Women in the World" (Times of London),
and the "50 Most Influential Business Thinkers in the World" (Accenture
and Thinkers 50 research). In 2001, she received the Academy of
Management's Distinguished Career Award for her scholarly contributions
to management knowledge, and in 2002 was named "Intelligent Community
Visionary of the Year" by the World Teleport Association.
April 3, 2008: Marsha Lillie-Blanton, DrPH
Marsha Lillie-Blanton is a vice-president of the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation where she directs the Foundation’s policy research on access to care for vulnerable populations. She also holds an adjunct faculty position in the Department of Health Policy and Management of the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her research and policy interests are in the areas of substance abuse, racial/ethnic minority health, and HIV/AIDS. Dr. Lillie-Blanton has over 15 years of work experience in health policy research and management positions. She has authored and co-authored numerous articles, book chapters, and reports on health care access and financing issues for vulnerable populations.
May 15, 2008: Robert Blendon, PhD
Dr. Blendon is Professor of Health Policy and Political Analysis at the School of Public Health. He directs the Harvard Opinion Research Program and the Henry J. Kaiser National Program on the Public, Health, and Social Policy, which focuses on the better understanding of public knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about major domestic public policy issues. He also codirects the Washington Post/Harvard University/Kaiser Family Foundation survey project and a project for USA Today and the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation on American attitudes toward health and social policy.
