New HSPH Website and Content Management System Launched

April 1, 2007

We are pleased to launch the new HSPH website.  This is the school's fourth and most complete redesign.  It is the result of nearly two years of campus-wide collaborative work.

The new site features:

  • A new design with consistent navigation that strives to meet web standards and accessibility requirements on a site-wide basis
  • A full-featured content management system (CMS) that allows more than 1000 publishers to immediately participate in HSPH website development. The CMS saves all data to a central database.
  • Improved search features utilizing Google technology
  • New and redundant server infrastructure for growth and development
  • Improved site-wide cross-referencing and topical searching
  • Integration with other Harvard resources

Many individuals and groups were central to the development and direction of the website redesign project.

Most notably, we would like to thank:

  • HSPH Web Committtee
  • Office of Communications
  • Office of the Dean
  • HSPH faculty members
  • Faculty Council
  • HSPH students
  • Representatives from academic departments
  • Representatives from administrative offices
  • Office for Admissions
  • Registrar's Office
  • Student Services Office
  • Office for Resource Development
  • Office for Alumni Affairs

We would also like to acknowledge the contributions of the web team of the Department of Information Technology.

Most notably:

  • Christopher Ternan for website design and project management work,
  • Blain Smith and Kevin Wnek for programming and database development, and
  • Bill Mahoney, Brian Pedranti, and Andy Ross for infrastucture support

As with any major site redesign, many pages have been moved or reconfigured. Please use the Contact Us tab on this site to alert the web team of any issues that you encounter.  The web team will work to resolve any issues as quickly as possible.

Please check back at this website for updates and training options for publishers.  The web team has a number of further enhancements and rollouts scheduled over the next few months.

We are confident that the new site is a excellent starting point for future website development at HSPH. As the web becomes more collaborative, more integrated, and more multimedia-oriented, HSPH is well-positioned for future growth.

Thank you,
Deane Eastwood
