Entire Longwood Campus Is Smoke-Free
The contiguous campuses of HMS, HSDM, and HSPH became completely smoke free on Monday, March 16, 2009. While HSPH implemented a similar policy in 2003, smoking is now prohibited in any workplaces controlled, operated or occupied by the three schools.
The announcement about the planned smoke-free Longwood Campus was made jointly by the deans of HMS, HSDM, and HSPH on June 16, 2008. Read about the announcement.Quitting smoking can be challenging. The Harvard Longwood Campus is offering smoking cessation programs free of charge. Harvard University Health Services lists resources about smoking cessation. Students enrolled in the Harvard Student Health Plan and HUGHP members may be eligible for the 2009-Support-to-Quit Program. HSPH employees may contact Harvard's Employee Assistance Program at 1-877-327-4278 for information, support and resources about smoking cessation.
