Julio Frenk Convened HSPH Community Meeting to Mark First 100 Days as Dean
HSPH Dean Julio Frenk reviewed the School's strengths, reiterated his ambitions for HSPH, and outlined his strategic priorities as dean at an event on June 9 in Snyder Auditorium marking his first 100 days as dean.

Department of Biostatistics Has New Chair, Victor DeGruttola, and Has Added Two Prominent Professors
Victor DeGruttola, HSPH professor of biostatistics, will chair the Department of Biostatistics. In addition, Giovanni Parmigiani, a noted leader in applying bioinformatics tools to cancer studies and medical decisionmaking, and Francesca Dominici, whose work has affected air pollution regulation, have been appointed professors of biostatistics.
Professor Wessling-Resnick Named Director of BPH Program
Marianne Wessling-Resnick, professor of nutritional biochemistry in
the Department of Genetics and Complex Diseases at HSPH, has become the
director of the Biological Sciences in Public Health (BPH) Program.
Human Resources Encouraging Completion of Performance Management Process to Benefit Employees and Managers
Building on last year's highly successful campaign to encourage
managers to conduct performance conversations with their employees,
HSPH Human Resources is providing new tools to help with performance
management for the current year.
In Memoriam: Jeremiah Mead
Jeremiah (Jere) Mead, architect of the field of respiratory mechanics
and Professor Emeritus in the Department of Environmental Health at the
Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH), passed away on July 4, 2009, at
a health care facility in Ellsworth, ME. He was 88 years old.
In Memoriam: Armen Tashjian
Armen H. Tashjian, Jr., Professor of Toxicology, Emeritus, and former
chair of the then-named Department of Molecular and Cellular Toxicology
at HSPH, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2009, at a hospice center in
Massachusetts at the age of 77.
