John B. Little Symposium Carries on Tradition for More than Decade
For the 11th year, experts in radiation and cancer cell biology gathered at HSPH for the annual John B. Little Symposium in Snyder Auditorium. The two-day event took place on October 24 and 25.The symposium is named after John Little, professor emeritus in the Department of Genetics and Complex Diseases.
Every year at the symposium, the John B. Little Center for Radiation Sciences and Environmental Health gives an award to an outstanding scientist. This year, Lawrence Loeb of the University of Washington was the recipient. Loeb researches the sources of spontaneous mutations in normal cells and the possibiity of an exponential increase in mutations during the growth of human cancers.
