Faculty Appointments and Promotions

Wafaie Fawzi has been promoted to professor of nutrition and epidemiology in the Departments of Nutrition and Epidemiology.

Jonathan Levy has been promoted to Mark and Catherine Winkler Associate Professor of Environmental Health and Risk Assessment.

Marcia Caldas de Castro has been appointed assistant professor of demography in the Department of Population and International Health.


Submit Nominations for 'Health Services Research' Award from AcademyHealth

AcademyHealth requests nominations of health services research that has made a positive impact on health policy and/or practice. The lead researcher of the winning submission will receive $2,000, and the research will be disseminated widely as part of AcademyHealth's ongoing efforts to promote the field of health services research and to communicate its value for health care decision making. The award will be announced at the National Health Policy Conference on February 12-13, 2007, and the winner will receive complimentary registration, travel to the conference, and lodging.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, July 28.


Weisskopf Wins Neuroimaging Prize

Marc Weisskopf, research associate in the Department of Environmental Health, was among four neuroscientists to receive the first AFAR-NYAS-GE Healthcare Neuroimaging Prize for Junior Investigators. The award, which was presented at a conference on imaging and the aging brain and was sponsored by the American Federation for Aging Research and the New York Academy of Sciences, was established by GE Healthcare as a way to support and recognize outstanding academic and scientific accomplishments in the area of neuroimaging. The meeting took place on May 16 and 17 at NYU's Kimmel Center in New York City.
