HSPH Invited to Recommend Names and Logo Suggestions for Sustainability Team
A newly formed HSPH sustainability team needs your help. The team has a mission, but requires a name and logo. The team aims to promote resource conservation opportunities at HSPH, share information about environmentally healthy choices, and work with Operations to help establish best practices and standards for sustainable design and efforts on campus.
"It is so exciting to be working with the community at HSPH, where health and environmental issues are such a core part of the School's mission, and where there is so much commitment and enthusiasm from staff, faculty, and students on campus," said Jaclyn Emig, program manager for the Longwood Green Campus Initiative. "We have such an opportunity to truly lead by example in not only our research and teaching at HSPH, but also the day-to-day operations of the campus."

The representatives met for the first time on March 21 and plan to gather regularly throughout the year.
Submissions of names and logos may be made to greenideas@hsph.harvard.edu. The deadline is May 4. The winning individual or group will receive a gift certificate for four movie tickets. Also, a $120 certificate for wind power will be purchased in the winner's name to offset a portion of greenhouse gas emissions.* The new name and logo for the team will be announced by May 14.
"This is one large step for the Harvard School of Public Health toward a smaller environmental footprint for mankind," said Daniel Beaudoin, manager of facilities' energy and utilities at HSPH.
The sustainability team plans to work on several conservation efforts in 2007. Among the first priorities is to encourage increased recycling at HSPH. To become involved, contact greenideas@hsph.harvard.edu.
