Former Prime Minister and HSPH Alumna Receives UN Appointment
Norway's former Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland has been appointed a UN Special Envoy for Climate Change. She is a former director-general of the World Health Organization and graduated from HSPH in 1965 with an MPH.
Brundtland and her fellow special envoys Ricardo Lagos from Chile and Han Seung-soo from Korea will work closely with national leaders from all over the world and will assist the UN Secretary-General in his efforts to give momentum to the multilateral climate change negotiations in the UN.
Mozaffarian Named Searle Scholar
Dariush Mozaffarian, instructor in the HSPH Department of Epidemiology and HMS assistant professor, was named one of 15 Searle Scholars for 2007. He will receive $240,000 to support his research into dietary fatty acids, congestive heart failure, and atrial fibrillation.
The program is funded through grants from the Searle family trusts to The Chicago Community Trust and administered by Kinship Foundation in Northbrook, IL.

HSPH Commencement will be held in the afternoon on June 7 in the Countway Courtyard. Julio Frenk, former Minister of Health for Mexico, will be the School's Commencement speaker.

- 8:35 a.m. The academic procession begins.
- 9:45 a.m. The ceremony begins.
- 11:30 a.m. The ceremony ends.
HSPH Commencement Ceremony, Afternoon Exercises
- 1:30 p.m. Graduates begin to line up for the academic procession.
- 2:00 p.m. Faculty begin to line up for the academic procession.
- 2:30 p.m. The academic procession begins.
- 5:00 p.m. The HSPH ceremony ends, and the reception begins.
