Symposium and Memorial Service Planned for James Whittenberger
Two events will be held in September to celebrate the life and achievements of Professor James Whittenberger, who died last March at the age of 93. Whittenberger was the chair of the Department of Physiology at HSPH for 32 years (1948-80). He founded the Harvard NIEHS Center for Environmental Health, now in its 44th year at HSPH.
A scientific symposium has been planned in his honor on Friday, September 28, at the Harvard Institutes of Medicine, 4 Blackfan Circle, next to Vanderbilt Hall. The following day, on Saturday, September 29, there will be a memorial service at the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 55 Coolidge Avenue, Lexington, Massachusetts. More information about these events will be announced when available.
Faculty Appointments and Promotions
Laura Kubzansky has been promoted to associate professor of society, human development, and health.
Venkata Sankaranarayanan has been promoted to associate professor of society, human development, and health.
Jay Silverman has been promoted to associate professor of society, human development, and health.
All three faculty members are in the Department of Society, Human Development, and Health.
