Swartz Named to IOM
Katherine Swartz, HSPH professor of health policy and economics, has been elected to the Institute of Medicine. The Institute was established in 1970 by the National Academy of Sciences and provides independent, scientifically informed analysis and recommendations on human health issues. Elected members commit to spending a significant amount of time as volunteers on IOM committees, which engage in a broad range of studies on health policy issues.
Willett Appointed as AAAS Fellow
Walter Willett, chair of the HSPH Department of Nutrition, has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He is one of nine appointees from Harvard and 471 new fellows overall. These individuals are being recognized for their efforts toward advancing science applications that are deemed scientifically or socially distinguished.
