Registration for AAAS Meeting in Boston
The annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) will take place in Boston this year. The conference runs from February 14 to 18 at the Hynes Convention Center, the Sheraton Boston, and the Boston Marriott Copley Place. Advance registration is open. There is a discount for students. The Office of Communications will also be covering some sessions, starting February 11.
Black History Month Health Fair
Cherishing Our Heart and Souls Coalition (COHS) and the HSPH Office of Diversity has organized a health fair to celebrate Black History Month. The event will take place on Saturday, February 2, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Vine Street Community Center, 339 Dudley Street, Roxbury.
The day will feature:
• More than 50 health and community agency exhibitors
• Free health screenings, including dental, vision, blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol checks
• Healthy food tastings and cooking demonstrations
• Health career workshops for youth
• Yoga, tai chi, and meditation exercises
• Activities for children
• Raffle prizes every hour

Evans Honored by Risk Analysis Society
John Evans, senior lecturer on environmental science in the Department of Environmental Health, was selected to receive the Society for Risk Analysis's first-ever Outstanding Educator Award. The award was presented at the Society's Annual Meeting on December 11 in San Antonio, Texas. The award is given each year to a teacher, author, or mentor who has contributed substantially to the training of new experts in risk analysis.
