The Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies, through the Saltonstall Population Innovation Fund, invites applications from Harvard graduate students for positions as Graduate Associates for the academic year 2001-2002. The fund suppo rts students undertaking innovative graduate work in the field of population studies. Preference will be given to applicants whose research reflects the centers ongoing programs in population and development and who are likely to benefit from an association with the center. Current research programs at the center focus on gender and population policies; reproductive health and family planning programs; and population aspects of human security, human equity, human development, and burden of disease. A maximum of six awards of up to $4,000 each are available to doctoral and masters students at any Harvard department or professional school. The awards are intended to support innovative field projects and field research. Field projects for masters students should be conducted between their first and second years of study. Applicants should submit the following to the Saltonstall Review Committee at the center: completed application form; cover letter, curriculum vitae; description of thesis or current research project (not to exceed five pages); proposed budget of up to $4,000 and statement indicating funding being sought from other resources; and two letters of recommendation sent directly to the Review Committee by faculty members familiar with the students work. The deadline for all materials is Friday, May 18.
