Exams and Defenses

Candace Miller, doctoral student in the Department of Society, Human Development, and Health, will present her thesis, "The Orphan Epidemic in Botswana," on Tuesday, April 19 at 10:30 a.m. in Kresge 708.

Susan Wee, doctoral student in the Department of Genetics and Complex Diseases, will present her thesis, "The Role of the cop9 Signalosome (CSN) Complex in Maintaining Cullin RING Ligase Adaptors," on Tuesday, April 19 at 1 p.m. in Kresge G-3.

Eric Tchetgen, doctoral student in the Department of Biostatistics, HSPH, and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, will take his oral examination on Wednesday, April 20 at 1:30 p.m. in SPHII-426. Majors: biostatistics, cognate requirement, and environmental epidemiology. James Robins will chair the examination committee.

Magdalena Cerdá, doctoral student in the Department of Society, Human Development, and Health, will take her oral examination on Thursday, April 21 at 2:30 p.m. in Kresge 708. Major: social epidemiology; minors: biostatistics and human development. Lisa Berkman will chair the examination committee.

Elpidoforos Soteriades, doctoral student in the Department of Environmental Health, will present his thesis, "Obesity, Health, and Employment Status in U.S. Firefighters," on Friday, April 22 at 3 p.m. in SPH1-1301.

Yiqing Song, doctoral student in the Departments of Epidemiology and Nutrition, will present his thesis, "Magnesium Intake, Metabolic Syndrome, and Incidences of Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, and Cardiovascular Disease: Results from the Women’s Study," on Tuesday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m. in Kresge G-3.

Agneta Breitenstein, doctoral student in the Department of Health Policy and Management, will take her oral examination on Thursday, April 28 at 2 p.m. in Kresge 439. Major: health policy. Michael Reich will chair the examination committee.

Amy Murphy, doctoral student in the Department of Biostatistics, HSPH, and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, will take her oral examination on Friday, April 29 at 10:00 a.m. in SPHII-426. Major: biostatistics, cognate requirement, and psychiatric epidemiology. Christoph Lange will chair the examination committee.

Matthew McQueen, doctoral student in the Department of Epidemiology, will present his thesis, "Gene-Mapping Strategies for Complex Disease," on Friday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m. in Kresge 908.

Yi Kyung Park, doctoral student in the Department of Nutrition, will present her thesis, "Dietary Factors and Risk of Colorectal Cancer: Intakes of Dietary Fiber, Fatty Acids, and Vitamins A, C, and E and Risk of Colorectal Cancer," on Friday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m. in Kresge G-2.
