Exams and Defenses

Amy Murphy, doctoral student in the Department of Biostatistics, HSPH, and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, will take her oral exam on Friday, April 29 at 10:00 a.m. in SPHII-426. Majors: biostatistics; cognate requirement; and psychiatric epidemiology. Christoph Lange will chair the examination committee.

Kathleen Wolin, doctoral student in the Department of Epidemiology, will present her thesis, "Predictors and Benefits of Physical Activity," on Friday, April 29 at 12:30 p.m. in Kresge 204.

Matthew McQueen, doctoral student in the Department of Epidemiology, will present his thesis, "Gene-Mapping Strategies for Complex Disease," on Friday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m. in Kresge 908.

Yi Kyung Park, doctoral student in the Department of Nutrition, will present her thesis, "Dietary Factors and Risk of Colorectal Cancer: Intakes of Dietary Fiber, Fatty Acids, and Vitamins A, C, and E and Risk of Colorectal Cancer," on Friday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m. in Kresge G-2.

Alethea Walton McCormick, doctoral student in the Department of Epidemiology, will present her thesis, "Antimicrobial Use and Transmission Dynamics of Infectious Diseases," on Monday, May 2 at 2:35 p.m. in Kresge 908.

Cari Jo Clark, doctoral student in the Department of Population and International Health, will present her thesis, "Defining Domestic Violence in Jordan: Its Prevalence, Reproductive Health Correlates, and Sources of Assistance," on Monday, May 2 at 3:30 p.m. in FXB G-12.

Irene Koulinska, doctoral student in the Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases, will present her thesis, "Characterization of Human Immunodeficiency Type 1 Viruses Involved in Mother-to-Child Transmission," on Wednesday, May 4 at 12:00 p.m. in FXB 301.

Lu (Summer) Zheng, doctoral student in the Department of Biostatistics, HSPH, and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, will present her thesis, "Contributions to Analysis of Multi-Center Randomized Clinical Trials: The Role of Conditioning," on Wednesday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. in SPHII-426.

Kun-Chih Kelvin Tsai, doctoral student in the PhD Program in Biological Sciences in Public Health, will present his thesis, "Heterotypic Cell Interactions Between Stress-Induced Prematurely Senescent Mammary Stroma and Neighboring Epithelial Cells in Aging and Breast Cancer," on Friday, May 6 at 9:30 a.m. in Kresge G-2.

Corrine Williams, doctoral student in the Department of Society, Human Development, and Health, will take her oral exam on Friday, May 13 at 12:00 p.m. in Kresge 606. Major: maternal and child health; minors: women’s health and biostatistics. Ulla Larsen will chair the examination committee.
