Computer Training Classes

Below is a list of current computer training classes available to HSPH members:

Access 2000: Level 3 (August 27 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Kresge LL-10)

Excel: Analysis Tools (August 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Kresge LL-10)

Using the Groupwise Calendar (August 30 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Kresge LL-10)

Dreamweaver: Level 3 (September 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 99 Summer Street, Boston)

Photoshop: Level 2 (September 16 and 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 99 Summer Street, Boston)

Fireworks: Level 1 (September 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 99 Summer Street, Boston)

Fireworks: Level 2 (September 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 99 Summer Street, Boston)

To register for any of the classes listed above, complete a computer training registration form available at www.hsph.harvard.edu/hr/computertrainingschedule.html and return to Ilia Maldonado at Kresge 505. Or fax the form to 617-432-4361. Direct any questions to 617-432-1627.

Changes to Shuttle Services Announced

Due to construction at Tugo Circle (the intersection of Avenue Louis Pasteur and Longwood Avenue), changes have been made to the M1, M2, Ruggles Express, and JFK/UMASS shuttle pick-up and drop-off locations.

The M1/Boylston-Kenmore shuttle will pick up passengers north of Tugo Circle on the Vanderbilt Hall side of Avenue Louis Pasteur, a few yards up Avenue Louis Pasteur from the original pick-up location.

The M2/Cambridge-Harvard Longwood Campus and the Ruggles Express shuttles will drop off passengers just north of the circle on the Vanderbilt Hall side of Avenue Louis Pasteur. The M2 will pick up passengers on the opposite side of Avenue Louis Pasteur, across from Vanderbilt Hall, north of the circle.

The JFK-UMASS shuttle will drop off and pick up passengers north of Tugo Circle on the Vanderbilt Hall side of Avenue Louis Pasteur, a few yards up Avenue Louis Pasteur from the original pick up location.

Fall Orientation Schedule Is Announced and Is Online

HSPH’s Fall Registration and Orientation is from September 3 to 7. Here are some highlights:

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3

8:30-2:30 Registration for New Students in the Kresge Cafeteria

3:00-4:00 Welcome Address for New Students in Snyder Auditorium (overflow room is Kresge G-2)

5:00-6:30 Information Fair in the Kresge Cafeteria

Representatives of student groups and others will staff information tables.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

12:00-5:00 Department Meetings for New Students

This afternoon has been set aside for departmental activities. See the online schedule for a list of the starting time and initial meeting rooms of each department.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

11:00-11:30 Demonstration of Online Student Information System in Snyder Auditorium

This session is designed to introduce students to OASIS, the Online Access Student Information System. Students will learn how to register for courses, browse course and faculty information, update biographical information, and more.

3:00—5:30 Global Student Orientation Session I in Kresge G-2

The session is strongly recommended for all students. Topics will include: institutional resources, services, and pertinent academic and social survival tips. There will also be an opportunity for students to meet their classmates.

5:30 to 7:30 HSPH Cookout in the Courtyard outside HSPH.

Sponsored by the Office for Students and the Student Coordinating Committee. All members of the HSPH community and their families are invited to attend the HSPH cookout. HSPH ID or wristband will be required for participation.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

8:30-2:30 Registration for Returning Students in the Kresge Cafeteria

2:00-5:00 Global Student Orientation Session II in Kresge G-2

This session is required for all international students. There will be a panel presentation by returning students, who will disuss multiple issues. They will share concerns they faced as new students and describe how they managed to overcome them to succeed at HSPH. Cultural differences and experiences will also be discussed.
