Soon to Be GoneSurface Parking at 200 Longwood Ave. Due to construction, access to surface parking at 200 Longwood Avenuebehind HSPH Building 2will no longer be available, starting February 25. The underground parking lot at 200 Longwood Avenue will remain open and accessible as usual. New pedestrian walkways in the area will be demarcated by concrete dividers and fencing. Bike racks have been relocated to outside Countway Library, on the Huntington Avenue side (Bike racks are expected to return to the 200 Longwood Avenue location after construction is completed). HSDM is replacing a two-story, white annex building that sits directly behind HSPH Building 2 with a larger facility. Construction crews will arrive on February 25 to start preparing the site. Demolition will begin March 3. The length of the project is expected to be two years, after which the area outside of the new building (site of surface parking now) will be turned into green space. Alternative arrangements have been made for drivers who usually use the surface parking lot. HSPH building emergency exits that open near the construction site will remain operational, but people will need to use the delineated walkways to leave the grounds. For safety reasons, Operations encourages HSPH members to familiarize themselves with the new walking and traffic patterns. Operations will be providing a tour of affected evacuation routes to interested HSPH members. More information about the tour will be available soon.
