Faculty, students, and staff listened to Dean Bloom as he discussed "Developing and Organizing Science and Technology to Counter Bioterrorism" on Tuesday, February 4 in Snyder Auditorium. Dean Bloom provided an overview of the bioterrorism threat based on work he has done as co-chair of the biological panel and member of the Committee on Science and Technology for Countering Terrorism of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS). The NAS/National Research Council report "Making the Nation Safer: The Role of Science and Technology in Countering Terrorism" is available at http://books.nap.edu/html/stct/index.html. Dean Bloom reviewed key recommendations from the report, described information from other sources, and discussed issues and questions related to the universitys role in bioterrorism preparedness.
