Dean from Tehran School of Public Health to Speak The dean of the oldest and largest center of health studies in Iran will present a special guest lecture at HSPH on Thursday, January 16 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Kresge 502. Ali-Reza Mesdaghinia, dean of the School of Public Health, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, will speak about "The Health System of Iran." The lecture is a presentation of HSPH Dean Barry Bloom and the Department of Population and International Health. Self-Defense Class for Women to Begin The Harvard University Police Department is sponsoring a self-defense program for women on the next several Saturday mornings. Known as the "Rape Aggression Defense Systems" course, or RAD, the program teaches strategies for avoiding dangerous situations and for dealing with forms of aggression. The sessions take place on Saturdays, January 11, 18, 25, and February 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at HSPH. To sign up, email maureen_morrison@harvard.edu. Sponsored each year by the Division of Public Health Practice, the dinner/dance gathers together senior citizens from the Mission Hill community. JFK/UMASS Shuttle Becomes Permanent The JFK/UMASS shuttle, previously run on a trial basis, has been made a regular service for employees and students from MASCO-affiliated institutions, including HSPH. The JFK/UMASS Shuttle will continue operating as a free shuttle, and the schedule will remain the same. Also on the transportation front, the M2 shuttle now runs between Vanderbilt Hall and the Cambridge campus more often. For the Web Development Certificate Program, preference is given to employees currently working on an HSPH web site or planning to work on a website in the future.
