Exams and Defenses

Allison Smitten, doctoral student in the Department of Epidemiology, will take her oral examination on Monday, January 24 from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in Kresge 204. Major: epidemiology; minors: health policy and management and biostatistics. Marcia Testa will chair the examination committee.

Elizabeth Oliveras, doctoral student in the Department of Population and International Health, will present her thesis, "Abortion in the Fertility Transition in Accra, Ghana," on Wednesday, January 26 at 10:00 a.m. in FXB G-11.

Chen-yu Liu, doctoral student in the Department of Environmental Health, will take her oral examination on Friday, January 28 at 3:00 p.m. in SPH1-1301. Major: environmental and occupational epidemiology; minors: genetic epidemiology and biostatistics. Xin Xu will chair the examination committee.

Tamara Dubowitz, doctoral student in the Department of Society, Human Development, and Health, will present her thesis, "The Social Context of Diet: Using Mixed Methods to Understand Individual and Contextual Effects among Low-Income, Postpartum Women," on Monday, January 31 at 2:30 p.m. in Kresge 708.

Arjumand Siddiqi, doctoral student in the Department of Society, Human Development, and Health, will present her thesis, "Political Economy and Child Developmental Health: A Cross-National, Comparative Perspective," on Tuesday, February 1 at 1:00 p.m. in FXB G-13.

Amy Carey, doctoral student in the Department of Biostatistics and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, will take her oral examination on Thursday, February 3 from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. in SPHII-426. Majors: biostatistics; cognate requirement: psychiatric epidemiology. Paul Catalano will chair the examination committee.

David Engler, doctoral student in the Department of Biostatistics and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, will take his oral examination on Thursday, February 3 from 3:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. at SPHII-426. Major: biostatistics; cognate requirement: psychiatric epidemiology. Rebecca Betensky will chair the examination committee.

Sunday Clark, doctoral student in the Department of Epidemiology, will take her oral examination on Friday, February 4 at 1:30 p.m. in Kresge 908. Major: epidemiology; minors: biostatistics and environmental health. Robert Glynn will chair the examination committee.

John Page, doctoral student in the Departments of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, will present his thesis, "Doubly Robust Estimation: Structured Nested Mean Models for Survival Data, Verification Bias Correction for Diagnostic Test," on Thursday, February 10 at 1:00 p.m. in SPHII-426.
