Jay Silverman, an assistant professor in the Department of Society, Human Development, and Health, and Jeanne Hathaway, a research scientist at the Division of Public Health Practice, have been appointed to the Governors Commission on Sexual and Domestic Violence in Massachusetts for three-year terms. One of the goals for the Commission is to build and strengthen existing sexual and domestic violence intervention and prevention efforts. Hager Re-Elected at APHA Christie Hager, deputy director of the Division of Public Health Practice, was elected to a fourth term as chair of the American Public Health Associations Health Law Forum at its recent meeting in San Francisco. She has also been elected to a second term on APHAs Governing Council. A lawyer and public health professional, Hagers work experiences include positions as senior research analyst for the Massachusetts Legislatures Joint Committee on Health Care and as a member of the editorial staff of the New England Journal of Medicine. Students Visit WHO to Explore Career Paths Forty-eight HSPH students traveled to the World Health Organization (WHO) office at the United Nations (UN) in New York in December to meet officials. "We wanted to expose students, particularly those interested in international health, to careers at WHO and the UN," said Peter Crudele of Career Services, who assisted Betsy Weissel in organizing the trip. The students met representatives of the Director-General, Health Policy group, Africa Health projects, Millennium Development Goals group, Inter-Agency Relations and the UN Development Group Office.
